Jewellery Care Guide

How to Look After Your Jewellery

For over 25 years we have been working on all sorts of different ways to prevent silver from tarnishing and what to do when it does. Chemicals, black magic, you name it we have tried it. So we would like to share with you that we have discovered the best thing for keeping silver looking great is….a silver cloth. It IS that simple.

Stones
To bringing back sparkle to faceted gemstones, we use warm soapy water and a soft brush (your husbands/boyfriends/brothers/housemates toothbrush would be perfect), followed by rinsing in clean water. With Pearls, we wash them in mild soapy water and dry them gently every time they are worn.

Wear
When wearing your Kit Heath jewellery, avoid contact with chemicals, perfume, hairspray and deodorant as the chemicals in these will cause the silver to tarnish and spoil very quickly.

Storage
We don’t think keeping your jewellery next to the sink, sprawled across the dressing table or hanging from the bedside light is probably the best place to keep it. We think it deserves a place in your jewellery box, perhaps next to some silica (you know, those annoying little bags of balls you get in a new handbag) enjoying the peace and quiet in the cool darkness, resting so it is ready to dazzle when next taken out to perform.
